Lead Machine Learning Engineer

  • Led the Machine Learning team through modeling, iterating, and refining in the first task which aimed to create a classifier to predict illegal dumpsites based on different factors such as population, population density, distance to roads, venue categories, and distance to venue categories.
  • Iterated through several state-of-the-art Machine Learning models - Random Forest classifier, Neural Networks, Ensemble Models, and Light Gradient Boosting Model (LGBM) to arrive at the best practical solution for deployment and real world usage.
  • Worked on integrating the LightGBM model (with 82% accuracy) into a Streamlit application for demonstration purposes and deployment through Docker and Heroku platforms.
  • Contributed in generating a city level heat map of potential illegal dumpsites using the final optimal Machine Learning model to give an example of how environmental organizations, municipalities, and local authorities can take advantage of this to determine which neighborhoods require immediate attention to mitigate the possibility of them becoming a dumpsite.

  • Building and empowering a well established and strong Machine Learning ecosystem in Chennai through Pie & AI: Chennai sessions.
  • Conducting a series of deeplearning.ai events that involve conversations with world leaders, thought provoking discussions, and networking with fellow deep learners.
  • Successfully organized and conducted the first online webinar of Pie & AI: Chennai series in collaboration with other ambassadors and speakers that attracted an online presence of 90+ attendees on YouTube. [link]

Extracurriculars Activities and Interests


  • Attended all the AtomHacks hackathons hosted by Bronx High School of Science annually. Made interesting projects and learned a lot of different programming concepts from them.
  • Attended TeenHacks LI in November 2018 with my friends from Bronx High School of Science. Created a text summarizer with python and the gensim library that had a prebuilt model.
  • Attended as many Local Hacks Days as possible. Worked on and presented one day projects including a tic-tac-toe AI player using Java. Assisted my friends and fellow hackers in their projects.


  • Been a singles starter on the Bronx Science varsity badminton team for all four years in high school.
  • Elected the captain of the team in senior year. Led the teams to all the matches against other high schools, trained the team members personally with different drills and exercises, briefed the team about the particulars of any specific match (court style, key points to remember while playing against certain opponents), promoted unwavering sportsmanship and respect towards all athletes, and radiated an energy of confidence suitable for a captain.
  • Ranked 4th in the PSAL citywide championship held in 2018 under singles.
